Presenting: Tenebrosi

The 2024 edition of Rapid Indoor Percussion is pleased to announce their program: Tenebrosi. The show is an exploration of light and dark through the brushstrokes of the master of tenebrism, Caravaggio.

Featuring the music of Radiohead, the show begins in a place of shadow. By peering in, the performers (as Tenebrosi - the ones who studied the teachings of Caravaggio, Ribera, and others) reveal in the second act what it is that casts the shadow - light! Through their movements and the sounds of bright antiphonal playing, the performers evoke the striking highlights of the master’s subjects. In the final two movements, the members will show how Caravaggio wove both of these elements together - opposites, yet at the same time, two sides of the same coin.
